Hi, thanks for shopping with www.TunerTools.com and thanks for your inquiry about this ALDL cable. Unfortunately, these are designed specifically for GM model cars from the late 80's up through 1995. The only non-GM cars I have ever seen them work with are those that used a full GM OBD1 / ALDL computer system, such as the Lotus Elise of those years. I don't think there is any chance at all these will work with anything built by VW as they tended to use completely different technology.

Sorry we couldn't be of more help.

further Customer questions on GM ALDL Cable w/OBD1, USB Version

    Hi,

I'm trying to troubleshoot a '94 Corsica. Do you know if this cable would work? I know there are a few different type of OBD1 connector configurations for GM'S.

    Thanks.

Hi and thanks for shopping with www.TunerTools.com

Yes, one variety of this cable will work on the 94 Corsica but you need to check under the dash to see if you have the 12 pin connector or the 16 pin. Many 94/95 GM vehicles were put out with the 16 pin OBD-II style connector even though the computer systems on them were all OBD-1 (or otherwise known as ALDL). This cable here is the 12 pin variety. If you need the 16 pin cable, please go here
    Cheers,

Thanks for the response. The '94 corsica has a 12 pin connector. What type of software is required?

There is software included with these cables on a CD. It's a mixed bag collection of freeware, shareware and a couple of demos of some really good commercial software that you can use on a trial basis. The completely free stuff is good enough to see what codes are being thrown, but also pretty basic. the best are the demos of EFIlive and Scanmaster. There is a list of several different software applications shown on our main webpage here to give you an idea:

    Hi Luis,
We don't provide the software, only the drivers for the cable. There are some freeware/shareware applications included but they're not very user friendly. I'd recommend using TTS Datamaster or EFIlive with this cable and you'll have to check with them to see if the definition files are available for that Silhouette.

If the definition is not available, there are quite a few people who have made their own. I have not done it but apparently once the data starts streaming and if you have a basic grasp of table structure it's not too difficult to do.

    Hope this is helpful
    Cheers,
    Lloyd
