I would like to know what the difference is between this item and the one for $375.

    Thanks

The Mongoose for ISO/CAN vehicles is advertised for high speed data logging and diagnostics. That one model is NOT advertised as a tool for reflashing. Within the Asian & European market, there are many makes and models which are not actually 100% compliant with J2534 and therefore we cannot warrant the ISO/CAN tool for reflashing.

Ok. I see you have for Asian Cars, too. How can I get software for those, especially Honda/Toyota?

Can I do diagnostics? Reprogram Keys/Immobilizers? They seem the same, only a different price.

Yes the hardware we have is referred to as a J2534 pass-thru device. The term J2534 is a communications protocol and both software and hardware must be J2534 compliant to work together. Ford provides the software and this cable is the least expensive version of the hardware we know of. There are more expensive tools that do the same thing but cover Ford, GM and Chrysler, as well as many imports that are also J2534 compliant.

The annual cost for Ford software is 599 and it does not expire. You do have to renew the subscription if you want the updates that Ford provides in order to always have the latest calibration files and to be able to cover new cars as they are released.
