    Default F250 2004 Diesel

03-07 Ford Powerstroke 6.0L DiabloSport Predator Tuner U7165

    Question

Do you have any custom tunes and/or recommendations on how to get maximum MPG on F250 2004 Diesel engines?

I'm planning a family vacation, not towing anything, and looking how to get better mileage. Last time I made this 3000mi. round trip The mileage I saw on a full tank at 68MPH, was 16.8MPG, which I think stinks, I have a friend that gets 22-25MPG with the Banks system.

Other than the Predator my truck is stock. Any recommendations? Air intake? Thanks for your help.

Which tune are you using in that Diablosport Predator and confirm that the Predator is model U7165.

The mid-tune called the "Economy Performance Tune" should already have your unloaded highway mileage better than 16.8 for sure. Has the truck's mileage always been like this? i.e. you don't have a transmission issue or unusually low gearing in it do you? (manual or automatic?)

A good cold air intake would help: something like the Quadzilla MAIF: http://tunertools.com/proddetail.asp?prod=QD-MAIF or we also have a Bully Dog intake for around 270, picture looks like this one (although this is the 2005 model shown) http://tunertools.com/proddetail.asp?prod=BD%2D221105

Other intake models that will work well on this truck are the AEM Brute Force: http://tunertools.com/proddetail.asp?prod=AEM-21-8104C
    or the K&N FIPK: http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=57-2546

Some exhaust mods, stepping it up to 4" exhaust wold also help but that gets a bit more expensive, $400-800 depending on the material and how fancy you get. If you're interested in exhaust systems, I can do a little poking around. We can probably get you a pretty fair deal on either the Silverline Aluminized or Stainless systems. or something a bit fancier from MBRP or Magnaflow.
    Cheers,
    Lloyd
