    Default Which superchips to use?

I have a 2000 Ford F-350 6.8 V10 with 39.5" tall tires and 4.88 gears. I have been trying to research which device to utilize in order to fix the check engine and transmission codes due to the modifications. As I read through the websites of Hypertech, Superchips, and Superlift's Truspeed calibrator, I find many different conflicting features from the site to what the tech advised ie: hypertech. I spoke with a "tech" from hypertech and he stated they do not offer a product that will calibrate tire size bigger than 34" or for gear changes, when it states on the site that the speedo calibrator will work for tires sizes up to 54". So as I await for the "techs" reply, I turned over to Superchips. Reading through the descriptions was helpful however, I was still confused which product will help my situation. I was initially looking for a fix for the speedo calibration, but if I could increase HP or MPG as well, I would opt for that. My last option would be the Superlift Truspeed calibrator. Now this device would take alittle longer to install due to having to find and splice wires, and it seems to adjust for my size tires and gears. Since this device works directs with the sensor signals to the ABS device there wouldn't be a new program running on the trucks computer, so would it be possible to use the truspeed to adjust the speedometer and then utilize one of the previous programmers to adjust for HP, trans shift options, air/flow ect. Or does anyone know if either product can due both.

Ok well I just received another email from the Hypertech rep and he stated that for my vehicle, they do not have a device that will adjust for tire sizes greater than 34" on a 2000 Ford f350 v10 6.8. How about Superchips?

    Hi Rey,
All good questions and I'm glad you posted the details otherwise I might have suggested one of the handheld tuners you've already looked at which would have been a mistake.

You're in a custom tune situation to do this right and I believe you'll be much better off skipping these handheld tuners and going to a laptop custom tuning solution like the Sniper Special Forces set up here.

The Sniper set up will give you complete access to all the parameters to fix the speedometer/odometer as well as your ABS & Transmission shift points which will have the effect of better performance and mileage.

The programming might get just a little tricky to get this right as there's going to be a bit math involved to get the tire size & gear ratio settings correct, but Pat and Chris at Sniper are good about helping customers who have purchased their Special Forces kits.

I really don't think you can get there from here with the handheld flash tuners and believe this Sniper set up is your best approach.
    Cheers,
    Lloyd

Thanks so much Lloyd for your speedy response to my lengthy questions, and shedding light on my problems with oversized tires and gear issues. I will definately seek this product out.
