    Default Hello

Hello from Saskatchewan. I look forward to the knowledge I will gain from this forum and the people in it. I just loaded up a 91 octane tune into my mustang and will the knock sensor retard the timing if I end up with a bad tank of fuel. I have advanced timing in all 3 rpm ranges and this car is a total different animal now. Can anyone give me some tips to further enhance performance. It's an Sct x3 tuner. Thank you

    Hi Everett,
What do you have modified on the Mustang? What year model & engine is it?

Do you have anything for monitoring engine knock and Air/Fuel Ratio?
    Cheers,
    Lloyd

And I have a meth kit en route for some insurance when spraying over 100 shot. I spray 75 on the street and 100/125/150 at the track depending on who's jets I can borrow. I retard timing 4 degrees when spraying bigger than the 75 and six degrees from 2000 to 8000 rpms on the selector on my tuner. My window switch starts at 3000 and shuts off at 5700. I used the tuner for launch control and set it at 3000 rpms in neutral so I can learn to launch consistently then I will raise the rpms. And I set total rev limit at 6000 rpm as safety. What about fuel increase at wot. Will raising that help nitrous or anything for that matter. Tell me the best way to go about making these adjustments and maybe save me some trial n error and just tell me where to leave them set at. With and without spray. Thank you

    Hi Everett,
This is quite the set up, bet it's a fun ride down the track!

With all these changes, I'm afraid there is no substitute for trial and error, but I would HIGHLY recommend a knock light and some on board Air/Fuel ratio measurement device. Engine Knock can destroy your motor quickly and the days of saying " I can hear it when it knocks" are long since past when you're tuning a car for maximum horsepower. By the time you hear the knock, damage is already taking place.

When spraying NOS, the fuel mixture needs to be enriched by quite a lot or you'll see lean conditions, very hard on the engine! The trick is to have it so it will still run after the NOS is turned off. Retarding the timing helps in this regard, but it sounds like you're still doing this by the seat of the pants.
    Cheers,
    Lloyd

Well the tuner allows me to enrich fuel at wot so to prevent detonation I am gonna give it the plus 10 so when I get the nitrous hit I don't go lean and kaboom....but I can't even test til spring.... Do you guys remote tune or should I let my local dyno take care of it

This type of tuning is ALWAYS best done directly on a dyno. I would not trust any type of remote tuning under these conditions with NOS and soon to be methanol injection. And to get things right, you really have to be monitoring knock and AFR
