Default PLX SM-AFR help on 03 Cobra

I'm the owner of a 2003 Ford Mustang Cobra. I'm intrested in purchasing a PLX SM-AFR. I have some technical questions:
    1. I would like to use the analog output for a custom gauge. Is this possible?
    2. I read a tech summary that states you can put the wide band sensor in place of the upstream (or narrowband sensor) in your vehicle and utilized the "simulated signal for like stock ecu operation" I would like to know a little more about how that works. For example, if it is a simulated signal, is it just a fluctuating voltage to induce normal cruise or idle conditions? what does it do under heavy load or perhaps when there is a vacuum leak?

Default Re: PLX SM-AFR help on 03 Cobra

The output from the PLX SM AFR is in a proprietary serial stream and although I'm not a programmer, have been told it is rather difficult to do anything custom with, so no... in practical terms, it's not really available to parse this to a custom gauge. The narrow band simulation will report the existing conditions accurately, only with a 0-1 volt range to match what the ECU is expecting. A vacuum leak will likely cause a lean condition and under heavy load, it will simply report "rich" as the narrow band signal really doesn't do much more that report "rich", "lean" or somewhere in the middle.
    Cheers,
